Manchester Opera Ensemble will be returning to the Manchester music scene with this exciting tour of a double bill of comic operas. We will be performing Menotti's - The Telephone and Offenbach's - A Husband at the Door, both to be performed in English with piano accompaniment. The performances will bring the ensemble to new venues in Greater Manchester, and we hope that you'll be there to join us!
The Telephone tells the story of Lucy and Ben, a young couple living in the city and Ben has a big question to ask. If only Lucy's prize-position, a vintage telephone, would STOP RINGING!
A Husband at the Door is a French farce based in 1910s Paris and tells the story of Florestan, a womanising operetta composer on the run from a group of jealous husbands and angry creditors who gets locked into his hiding place when two hysterical high society women, Suzanne and Rosita, seek refuge in the 'empty' room after an argument. When Suzanne's apologetic husband, Henri, arrives at the door of the room a series of increasingly humourous events begin to unfold, made worse by the discovery that Henri is amongst the angry number after Florestan's neck.
