Street Scene (Kurt Weill) - RNCM

  • Royal Northern College of Music Booth St W Manchester, M15 United Kingdom (map)

The RNCM December opera production is the American composer Kurt Weill’s 1946 ‘Broadway Opera’ Street Scene. Weill considered the score his masterpiece, and The Arts Desk describes it as ‘An exhilarating blend of Puccini-esque melody, bright, brassy, impudent jazz, brooding blues and sparkly Broadway showtunes… This is a pungent, gutsy work of music theatre, pulsating to the relentless rhythm of irrepressible urban life.’

Sarah will be performing the role of Mrs. Fiorentino, a german neighbour to the Maurrant family.
